In 1990, I was born in the Netherlands and throughout my childhood, I grew up abroad. Throughout my travels, I was able to call Surabaya, Jakarta, Singapore, and Taipei my home. Design is a big aspect in peoples lives and I strive to design from a user point of view. Biology and nature are aspects that I firmly believe we can learn from. I therefore enjoy looking at what the world and universe have to offer. To me, design is finding a balance between simplicity, function, technology, and nature. The remarkable thing about design is that every person is confronted by it on a daily basis, but the user isn't necessarily aware of the complex design process behind a product. I find beauty in this obliviation, especially when a product is thoroughly designed, but the user takes this design for granted. This however isn't much of a surprise because of the daily rush in every day life. This is precisely why nature and the ocean inspire me in my designs. City-life and society have become extremly high pressured with fast paced movement. Alot of data is distorted by the amount of impulses we are exposed to. The beauty of nature is that this isnt the case. I like to take my inspirations from here. hide
