Childrens Book Charachter Design

This is what Your Special Solutions was looking for in their graphic design

I am creating a children's book for special needs children. I am not an artist and have the text but I need to create the main characters. There will be more projects with these characters within the scenes as well as this will be a series.

For this project I need 2 main characters. A cute boy and a girl, simplistic in design but something that will catch a child's interest, cartoon based human boy and girl ( no animal representations). I am very open right now and am looking for an idea to build on for my books.

These do not need to be elaborate characters. Simplicity is key.
