We're looking for a logo for a new project called 'Cortex'. It's an open source development platform that helps startups build software together, faster. Our goal is to build a community of startups so that innovation can be shared!
The logo should exert a sense of community and collaboration, while also representing the hi-tech aspect of the project. It needs to look good on a task bar, as an app-icon on a mobile device and as favicon for a webpage.
We have a slight preference for the color orange. Don't get caught up on that though. We like surprises.
The attached Mack, Pinterest, Fitbit (nice one), ghost, clipboard, Hipchat and Buffer logos are good references of the styles we like.
Updates
Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We are overwhelmed by all the great submissions! Additionally we're extremely grateful for the interaction that many of you have engaged in. We believe strongly that through this interaction we can come up with a design that uniquely suits our purpose.
There are already a few submissions that we really like but can still be refined. Also we have seen a lot of talented work that in first instance didn't quite meet our goals, but we feel that with the right interaction can yield great results. Because we don't want to rush the ongoing conversations (after all, we will be stuck with the logo for a while) we have extended the deadline with 5 days.
Thanks for all the great work!

Requirements
Must have
- The concept must be simple & memorable. A person has to be able to make a sketch of the logo after having seen it - which doesn't mean it should be simple to draw(!)
- I have included the "Hard Hat Hub" logo as a good example of a logo that is not memorable. It's too abstract. I don't understand what it means.
Nice to have
- An abstract reference to the brain ("cortex") would be nice - but by no means necessary.
