Logo Design Brief

After 25 years working for construction companies as a Commercial Manager I have just started my own consulting business providing commercial / contract advice to the Construction Industry. I am looking for a modern logo based on the plant Bracken as my company is called Brackenway Consulting after the name of my family home. (Brackenway). Bracken can be green or yellow / orange depending on the time of year and it is the latter I am looking for as they are softer colours. I have attached a home made attempt as an idea but I would like something more modern / stylish.
