Logo Design Brief

Our website will provide state-of-the-art, user-friendly, self-service technology for small businesses that will help them get more visibility and sell more online at a very affordable cost. It is the technology the big players use, at their disposal.

Nook was chosen as a name because it relates to a nice corner place, a reference to those small businesses we will cater to.

The design should communicate something modern, fresh, smart, as well as simple. Something well thought and that's why we can sell at this cost. Something easy to use, thought for a small business managed by one person. Something that is really the natural next step for all these small businesses who are wondering how to profit from internet and mobile.

The service will have different names depending on the target audience, but they are in essence an online booking system:

NookGourmet: Restaurants, Bars, Food Delivery
NookSpa: Massages, Manicures, etc
NookHotelier: Hotels, Bed&Breakfast, Hostels
NookTickets: Theaters, Parks, Museums

I need logo designs with 4 different icons (one for each service). I would like to see the logos:

1. horizontal (icon on the left) for the website
2. vertical (icon on top) for promo material
3. horizontal and vertical adding the tagline: "Online Booking System" for promo material

As a reference, I really like:

- the DesignCrowd logo. It's clean, in our case it would clearly separate Nook from the specific service, and the icon style is just what I'm looking for.
- the AbeBooks logo. They did something nice with the tagline.

I think the challenge is probably deciding what the icon should be. For example:

- NookGourmet: glass of wine
- NookSpa: two leaves holding a dot, like hands/arms holding a person (like Oasis Spa here: http://www.logotree.com/logo-design-sample/salon-spa.htm)
- NookHotelier: bed and pillow
- NookTickets: piece of ticket with bar code


Regarding colors, well, I'm open to ideas. I like blue and grey for technology services, but I wonder if it isn't too used. So we should definitely tried some shades of blue, but if you feel strongly about some other color, I would love to see it.
