Book Cover Design Brief

A Book Cover Design is required for a new book with a current working title of: 'Nuclear Weapons and International Law' plus subtitle something like: 'from the London Nuclear Warfare Tribunal via the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion to contemporary developments'.

The book will be issued in three formats: hardback, paperback, and electronic.

The Editor of the book is Geoffrey Darnton.

The finished size of the paperback front cover will be 15.2mm x 22.9mm. Initial thoughts about themes for the front cover include a nuclear explosion, and perhaps scales of justice, but designers have total freedom to propose ideas.

The back cover will have approximately 250 words of text, and a space at the bottom of about 37mm for publisher logo and ISBN barcode, The designer is free to suggest anything for the back cover.

No illustrations where the copyright is owned by someone else should be used, and the designer must be able to transfer exclusive copyright in the design to the client. The designer will be acknowledged in the book (unless the designer does not want to be).

2. World Court Project
3. International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion
4. Dissenting Judgment By Judge Weeramantry
5. Contemporary Activities (e.g. current case involving the Marshall Islands)
