Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for our company. The company's called 'Honeybee Design and Build Limited.' We are a small/medium size company active in the built environment. We design and construct residential and commercial building projects. We specialise in designing projects that utilise zero-carbon emissions, plus-energy and environmental strategies that meet and exceed sustainability criteria and internationally recognised certification schemes.
We provide a holistic or stand-alone consultancy service to clients i.e. architectural and interior design and visualisation, energy design and management strategies, structural analysis, project and construction management. We also construct and develop the actual project onsite for clients.
Within our industry we are currently about 3-5 years ahead of the curve in terms of what we do. It is very important to us that we continue to innovate and become a leader in producing world class sustainable buildings within their respective environments.

We chose the name honeybee because bees as a species are vital to the well being of the majority of earth's ecosystems. We want our work to be of benefit to the environment it is in and the people that interact within it too. Robust, sustainable, high-quality and attractive work and products.

The final design should convey simply the businesses ethos and what we seek to achieve, the quality and benefits to owners and users of our buildings and overall professionalism/financial safety.

We are happy for designers to provide their own interpretation of what we need, in-fact this is why we came to design crowd. The logo must be able to become the basis with which to build a visible brand.

In terms of the look of the logo the truth is we have very little idea! We thought about using an abstract bee or a hexagon in some way but this is as far as our ideas got and are probably not "right."

I must admit that we are not 100% certain how to go about knowing exactly how the chosen logo is to be presented - in certain situations a logo may be preferable, in others, such as on banners and site fencing, where people need to see the name of the company too, the logo may need to be backed with the written company name. I leave this up to you! It would seem we need a logo that in some cases can have the written company name beneath perhaps?

Once we have decided the company logo we need to look at developing a site banner, a website and van signage.

Requirements

Must have

• It is important the logo is professional and can be clearly recognised. Please read the description, it's important you understand what we do, we are seeking to convey the ideas and ethos of our business. Simplicity is important in terms of the shape, form and colours that comprise the logo.
• We prefer abstract forms.

Nice to have

• Although not definitive, we like natural colours and lots of light (see attached files.) This is just a pointer - we are not experts so don't take this literally, you decide what colours work best.

Should not have

• We DO NOT want any generic images of construction sites, people wearing hard hats, pictures of bees, drawing boards and drawings etc etc. This is unimaginative and dull. In addition we are not interested in "eco," type images of leaves or similar cliches.
