Book Cover Design Brief

Title of the book: Eli au milieu du monde
Author: Martine Dorra

Cover must reflect the story and themes: Tahiti, XVIII century, transgender boy.

THE STORY:
Eli was born Elisa, but from the beginning, he refused to be a girl. So, as fourteen years old, he left home and England, his country. He sailed with captain Wallis to Pacific Ocean. They arrived to Tahiti on june 1767.
There, Eli decided to stay.
He was adopted by Mâha, Mâha is a "mahu", traditional transgender MTF in old tahitian society.

This book tells the original story of Eli and his family, in a true historic and sociological context.
As his mother was a very important person in politic and religion, Eli learned to be a Tahitian man. He became a teacher, (they had schools for noble children). Once he organized a surf championship! In Teahupoo, the famous spot.
His life was punctuated by religious events according to season. Gods were everywhere.
At this time, there was no "king of tahiti" but several kings, queens, "small" ones and "big" ones who were always fighting. Alliances changed...
In this story, Mâha, Eli's mother was contributing to create new alliances.
Eli had two little sisters, adopted by Mâha, and a dog Ben, who knows how to fish!
Eli himself adopted a boy and a girl.

Please, note that Tahitian tattoos are special and different from marquisian tattoos. It can be important if you want to show it.
