Logo Design Brief

We need a new logo for our fashion business based in Sydney Australia called Grandma Takes A Trip. We know this may sound strange but we have been in business for 7 years now and have never really loved the logo we have and feel it is holding us back from expanding into a bigger business such as more stores, our own range, going international or, importantly, taking our brand to the world on-line. We do have a web presence, that gets an good amount of hits/users per month, but we genuinely need to capitalise on this with on-line shopping and advertising.

We sell vintage fashion from the 50's, 60's and 70's but don't want the brand/logo to be steeped in an 'olde worlde' feel as our plans for the future extend beyond what we are doing into lingerie, swimwear and our own line of clothing. Our heritage will always be vintage but we want our logo to be able to represent more than that alone.

We are well known both in Australia and internationally with our clothes appearing in many magazines/on-line sites BUT our hesitancy around our logo, plus the name and amount of coverage we get, has meant our brand is more phonetic - and we want something that moves beyond that, something that is classy and cool and can cut it with the best.

Please be as creative and as fantastic as you like but we feel the territory of premium brands is more where we sit/compete than middle-market.

Don't want to write much more in case we inadvertantly put too many parameters in (please get in touch if you want more info though) - we simply want something that represents fashionable elegance and simplicity and creates a fab base to move forward with.

Updates

Hi there to all designers and thank you so much for the work to date.

Now we are at the 1/2 way mark we thought the easiest thing to do was eliminate some of the work that doesn't quite meet the brief or direction we are after.

Thank you to all who have submitted work, all great work but we need to get a tighter focus on where we feel things need to go.

Any question pleae get in touch.

Andrew

Target Market(s)

Primarily female 18 -39 who are confident and are happy, in fact wanting, to express themselves through their fashion sense - we are not mass-market.

At the more middle to upper end of the market - people who feel that they don't need to buy second hand - we have become a permission to purchase (eg where did you get that/I bought it at Grandma's) and we want the logo to compete with the other brands in their repertoires.

Requirements
Must have
  • We have quite an open mind here - clearly the four words make it a tad tougher than most but the total look/feel is what we are after
Nice to have
  • Stylish, classic, engaging
Should not have
  • nothing comes to mind other than not being steeped in that 'olde worlde' handscript font stuff...we've tried that and rather than being category leaders it would mean we would just be same same.
