I'm first looking to design a logo for my wedding photography business, then after will be creating another project based off my logo for a new website design.
My website right now isn't a good representation of what I want in a logo or website, though the photos will be helpful to show you my style (http://emily-tebbetts.com). I just use it because it's clean and very simple to update (you use photos uploaded to flickr and rearrange/add/remove by doing it in sets on flickr which is very easy). I am focusing on wedding photography now, and I am going to create a separate website and logo for my wedding photography.
Going forward, my main goal with weddings is to build meaningful relationships with my couples rather than keeping them at a professional arm's distance, if that makes sense. I ask couples to answer a few questions about themselves and each other so that I can get to know them, and it's my goal to meet or at least have a couple phone calls with my couples before their wedding day so that they feel that they know, like, and trust me to let me in. I want to create meaningful photographs- focused on emotion and the people themselves rather than on what will get blogged on style me pretty. I very much think of wedding photography as storytelling, and I think that having a relationship with my couples allows them to let their walls down when I'm photographing them on their day.
I want my logo (and website, though that's a different project) to have a welcoming, comforting feel- like when you go back to your favorite lake/beach/mountain house that you and your family visit every year that fills your soul. I want it to communicate "come on in, I'm glad to get to know you!". I want a colorful logo, maybe a patchwork type of feel (free people-esque, possibly?), but slightly muted colors. I was thinking of a sunflower as a possibility, but I'm not set on that at all.
I'm putting "Emily Tebbetts Wedding Photography" as the logo text, but I'm also open to a short phrase as a part of the logo that communicates the above. Not at all necessary, but if you feel it adds to the design, wonderful!
For reference to show the type of market I'm targeting, my prices (for wedding photography) start at $2,750 for all day coverage and edited files, and extras are all a la carte. I am in Boston but planning on moving to Richmond VA in 2014. Though I'm doing local weddings, I mostly want to be traveling for weddings. My ideal weddings are really personal (rather than all in a country club), like getting ready in a house, getting married in a religious place if the couple is religious, or somewhere unique and special to the couple/or outside if not, and reception at somewhere beautiful and personal again, like a barn on a flower farm, or a lodge, or a beautiful estate, etc. I have a strong online presence with over 5,500 facebook fans, but only recently transitioned into wedding photography.
Updates
Hi everyone! Thanks for all the submissions!
To refine what I'm looking for:
-I do NOT want a clean/modern/bubbly look
-Remember, warm, inviting feeling - slightly worn in feel, like an old friend or well loved place
-I think script is appealing to me (at least for my name), but much more delicate. If we're going with script I'd like a fine type of script, thin lines etc.
-I'd also love to see more sunflower (or even 5/6 petal flower that is yellow/orange or patchwork color) design. Again, thin, fine lines and realistic rather than modern and clean
-The type of design that I've found most appealing is ( picture ) (first last name) (wedding photography under first last name)
-If the sunflower is in color, I am fine with the text being black :)
Thanks again! I hope this helps you all better understand what I'm looking for!!
