Web Design Brief
We plan to launch a website called www.launchotels.com which showcases the world’s best new hotels. We want a mock up for 2 pages: the homepage (page 1) and the individual hotel page (page 2). We are looking for a design which combines simplicity while highlighting images/features of the hotel. Because the theme of the site is new hotels it is important that the design somehow emphasizes the age of each hotel listed – both on the homepage and then on the individual hotel page.
NOTE: WE WANT A CREATIVE, NEW APPROACH TO DISPLAYING HOTELS. NOT JUST A COPY OF CURRENT HOTEL WEBSITES.
The design should consider unique and creative ways of helping users to navigate the homepage (page 1) based on the age, location or style of the hotel they are interested in. The individual hotel page(page 2) can be more standard by clearly setting out hotel photos, feature lists, reviews, contact details and potential discounts. There is no booking system needed as this is not a hotel booking website.
The design should ideally be compatible with a content management system such as Word Press. In terms of reference materials we like sites similar to:
http://www.theluxenomad.com
http://www.mrandmrssmith.com
http://www.designhotels.com
http://www.tablethotels.com
These sites are designed far more simply than large booking sites such as www.expedia.com, www.hotels.com or even trip advisor. However, we are not looking for a copy of the above. We are looking for a design that presents hotels in a novel way and would be seen by the industry as a unique way of displaying new hotels.
Updates
Dear Designers - we have received quite a few entries already. Thank you. However, none of the designs submitted have responded to our brief. They are all copies or derivatives of current hotel websites which is not what we are looking for. We want (a) a new and creative approach to a hotel website and (b) one which creatively uses the age of the hotel (ie. 1 month old, 6 months old etc).
