Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for a new Symphony Orchestra that will be established in Sydney, Australia. The name of the orchestra is "Eastern Sydney Sinfonia". The orchestra connects students with professional musicians.

In terms of the logo design, I am looking for a simple abstract design. I am open to suggestions regarding the colour scheme, however the design overall should be simple and not too busy. Personally, I like black and sleek with a dash of red or blue - but please feel free to be creative. Some sort of music reference is optional.

I have included some existing logos that I like for your reference. The Eastern Sydney Sinfonia example was a web mock up idea that I thought looked cool.
