We are looking for the framework design of a sign for our Seclusion Valley development in Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada. This development is located in a rural area in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains of Canada with many evergreen forests in the surrounding area. We want the signage to match the homes in the development by having an enduring value that will look good for years to come. We’d like to see the signs represent the area with a rustic/rugged look while still being elegant.
The signs are meant to be used as a welcoming feature on the street boulevard leading into the area, as well as when you exit. The design will need to be two sided, and have a matching design from both sides. People will be driving past these signs at approximately 50kph (30mph).
The signs will have short slogans on them including the logos of the development and builder that will be designed later, based on the framework design. We didn’t want this to simply be square signs attached to posts. We would like the creativity of this project to come not from the design of the graphics on the sign, but from the design of the framework of the signs themselves. We will be replicating a single framework design to create multiple signs (4 - 5).
The boulevard itself is 2.5m (8') wide so the sign framework should be 1.85m (6') wide at the widest, but could be narrower. Due to architectural restrictions in the area please keep the overall height to 1.85m (6') high with any possible posts able to extend another 15cm (6”) to an absolute maximum of 2m (6’6”). The interior of the sign that will contain the slogan and logos will need to be approximately 1.07m (3.5’) high by 1.5m (5’) wide (no narrower than 1.22m (4’)).
In keeping with the feel of the area, the sign design will be made out of wood posts, beams, decorative elements, battens etc. You may incorporate cultured stone into the design of the base. If metal is to be used in any way to secure the sign or as a design feature it needs to an easily obtainable product that does not require custom fabrication.
Please visit our website, currently under development, to get a feel for our homes and the area itself. http://sv.clearmotive.ca/
