Logo Design Brief
Hi Designers
My name is Renae Morris, and I’m after an awesome logo. I’m an oil painter, and have started a website at http://renae.gallery
This website will host my artwork and key information. More artworks and a link to my etsy site for purchases will be added in the next few months.
I create art because I love it. I know it can enrich lives and it brings me a lot of happiness to share that. In addition to original artworks, I’m also planning to sell affordable art prints, so that everyone can enjoy it.
I’m after a logo that I can use on my website, on business cards, and on certificates of authenticity.
I hope this provides some inspiration for you and you can help me to kickstart my art business!
Thank you
Renae
Updates
Hi all
I think some good progress is happening.
For those perplexed about stylizing or making the logo decorative, I've uploaded a photo of some relevant sketches I've done. I hope these can be refined and developed into something great!
Cheers
Renae

I will make a poll in a weeks time to share with my followers. If you're thinking of submitting, please make sure it's in by then.
Thanks! :)

Requirements
Must have
- RG and Renae Gallery that can be used independently but complement each other.
- A picture, an embellishment, or some sort of styling. Just text is too plain. Something evocative would be great!
- Emphasis should be on the R/Renae, not the G/Gallery parts. Maybe different fonts, sizes, or the composition will help with this.
Nice to have
- I like gold designs on black backgrounds, and warm colours. It would be good to see the logos on both dark and light backgrounds.
- The styles I like can be broadly categorized into: Art Symbols, Gradients, Art Deco, and Lettering. I don’t expect logos to incorporate all of these – it’s just to give an idea of things I like and perhaps some inspiration. See image attached and use as many or as few as you like. I imagine the best entries will use multiple seamlessly.
- Art Symbols: I really like clever uses where the logo is linked to the product. Some ideas for this could be to replace the A’s into easels, the G into a palette, or the L’s into paintbrushes. Having relevant pictures is a huge attraction for me.
- Gradients: I find gradients to be really visually engaging. For these, I like warm colours or gold tones. I like gradients in both lettering and pictures.
- Art Deco: I like the clean lines and decorative nature of these. It would be important however to make sure it looks ok on a small scale. Maybe some thick lines next to thin ones would be good.
- Lettering: The connection between R and G looks very professional and cohesive. I would like the Gallery component to support the Renae. Imagine that the Gallery is the space and Renae is the feature.
- Font types that I like include: Calligraphy, Brush, and Art Deco. Contrast between thicks and thins can look nice too. In the centre of the attached image, I’ve written Renae Gallery in my handwriting – this is a bit messy but may help to give an idea of my style.
Should not have
- Font that is too hard to read, images that don't scale to a small size well, gaudy images, aggressive elements, just plain text, pop/abstract art
