Logo Design Brief

looking for a logo for our subdivision - Curtis Street. I'd like it to look like an old school street sign, I think just black and white like old street signs but would be open to some inner colour. Would like it to have some 3D dimension to it (have attached what someone drew for us, and it's way to 2D and not what I'm looking for but gives you an idea of shape, etc). Looking for a "classy" look.
