Icon Design Brief

We run a range of holiday programs for school age students (ages 6 - 15) that focus on public speaking and debating. We are doing a substantial re-brand of our organisation and its products, including the creation of a new website and the reorganisation of our existing programs.

In particular, we are looking to use animals as a way of differentiating the difficulty levels for each of our programs (i.e. beginner and continuer levels). We are planning on using:

Ages 6 - 7 (Cats): Tabbycats (Beginners) & Tigers (Continuers).
Ages 7 - 9 (Marsupials): Koalas (Beginners) & Kangaroos (Continuers).
Ages 9 - 12 (Birds): Hummingbirds (Beginners) & Hawks (Continuers).
Ages 12 - 15 (Bears): Pandas (Beginners) & Polar Bears (Continuers).

What we are after are icons for each of these animals, created in a similar style. Please keep in mind the following:

- we are open to them being hand drawn or designed on the computer;
- we are looking for something that stands out against our intended clean cut, WordPress based website, rather than something that blends in;
- it is important that you can differentiate between the two images for each age group - many of our clients have English as a second language, and we want them to easily distinguish between which course is for beginners (smaller, slightly more childish) and the continuers program at each level;
- the design for each should take into account the age group which they are targeted at - the cats will likely be more childish in design than the bears - but still need to be designed in a similar vein, and be attractive to both male and female students; and
- the icons will usually be shown using a circular frame, so please make sure each design is vaguely circular in shape and will fit within a circle's bounds.

As there are a large number of icons to create, feel free to just submit two to start - if we like the style you use, we'll contact you and ask that you make the other six. The price quoted is for all eight icons.

Whilst we are creating a new website, you can see what the old website looks like (some things will remain similar) at www.sydneyspeaking.com.au. We have also uploaded a copy of our logo so you can see what things look like - we're not looking for something that looks particularly similar, but it is good to see it at least.
