Book Cover Design Brief
(updated brief)
Book cover for "Flawed"
Overview: A once-decent man spends his life trying to keep his family afloat, but living in a flawed system, the odds are stacked against him. Integrity falls to the wayside when his back is against the wall and he feels forced to commit a crime to save his family. He smuggles partially minted coins from the US Mint and pawns them off as flawed coins.
----
Other details: The coin program mentioned in the novel is fictitious, I called it "The First Lady Series" and the coins are $1 and gold plated. My main character smuggles coins that haven't had the edge inscription engraved on them yet.
My ideas:
Background - stark white
Title at the top - black letters
Authors names at the bottom - dark gray, dark red or black letters
Center of cover: The edge side of two gold coins, one edge is engraved the other is not (thus showing the flaw). A third coin can be face up showing the artwork - a female preferably. (If you need more clarity, feel free to write me).
Authors names: Lynette Landing and Dave DeFinis
Tagline: I am not sure whether to use this tagline or not "In Greed We Trust" - if so, I'd make it much smaller than title and use deep red letters.
Specs: Book will be in paperback and hard copy (and ebook), don't have the exact specs, but most likely 8.5 x 5.5 for paperback.
Similar styles: Sleek and simple like these books (images attached)
- "Red Queen" by Victoria Avery
- "The War of Art" by Stephen Pressfield
***All images of coins I've attached are just for ideas, I'm hoping you'll find better images out there!
