Logo Design Brief

**GUARANTEED PAYMENT**

A new logo is required for a cafe whose owner has a retro/ vintage obsession.

The current look that is hot at the moment is all things retro. We are seeing this everywhere but we want something unique.

The name of the cafe is CITY EDGE.

We would like a logo that is retro/ vintage inspired, unique and TIMELESS.

We would like the logo to be based on retro/ vintage typography- no pictures please.

We would like City Edge to be in larger font, and Food and Drink (or Food & Drink) in smaller font. It is up to you whether you do capital letters or lower case- whatever you like!

We do not have a set idea on colours- retro colours, black and white- whatever you think is best. This is where your amazing design skills come into play!

The logo will need to translate easily to a business card and packaging which may be a future project.

Thank you to all of you who have posted a design so far.


I kept the brief quite open in the hope that I wouldn't stifle your creativity, but I have been asked to provide some feedback/more direction.

I have included some vintage images which stood out to us for different reasons, some for the colour, some for the font (I particularly like the library font), some for the layout (my partner likes something about the 'shooting cade' photo).

Please let these be a guide for your design, but don't let them limit you. We would like something unique- so for example, if you are only using typography have some sort of design element to it that only a amazing graphic designers like yourselves could do! Hope this helps, and I'm looking forward to seeing some more designs.

Hi Everyone,


I haven't yet come across a logo that I think encompasses the look we are after.

To further narrow the brief:

1. Black and white only
2. I like the layout of the airfoam picture (i.e.. cursive on top with smaller, simple capital letters on the bottom)
3. I love the font of the Library picture, more than the cursive font of the Airfoam
4. I want a VERY SIMPLE, ELEGANT and CLEAN design. No frills, no badge around it, and most definitely no pictures. Some horizontal lines are okay.

for a cursive, I absolutely love the font in the 'Library' picture, otherwise I do also like "Wisdom Script".
