Develop a logo for a new university/community makerspace that facilitates collaboration and design-thinking through provision of cutting-edge training and equipment not otherwise available in the community. The space is where creation happens and includes artists and digital humanities as well as science, engineering, business, and technology. For this project, steam is not meant to be the commonly-used acronym but rather to suggest steam power/engines, fire, industriousness, and such things as foundries.
The logo will be used to identify the building housing steamspace, on the website and on social media, on print collateral, and screen printed on t-shirts, etc. Thus, the design must be effectively rendered in 1 or 2 colours and be easily identifiable from a distance.
This is a one-of-a-kind project as it is housed on a university campus but open to community members. It will also welcome school-aged children (middle school and up) and host summer camps for those interested in making (from musical instruments to drones).
Target Market(s)
University students, community members interested in making, school teachers, elementary and secondary school students. The audience is middle school age to senior citizens.
