Logo Design Brief

Logo for "Agony in the Alleghanies" cycling event. This is a 1-day challenging "Gran Fondo" style road bicycle ride held each summer in the Alleghany mountains of Virginia. (A Gran Fondo is a competitive long-distance bike ride that is not quite a race.) Riders choose from 4 courses ranging from 30 to 103 miles. All the courses are hilly/mountainous and the two of the courses include a MASSIVE 7-mile climb. Similar rides are Blood Sweat & Gears, Assault on Mt Mitchell, and Mountains of Misery.

Target Market(s)

Serious road cyclists who enjoy a challenge - especially a mountain "century" (100 mile) ride or metric century (100 km) with some pain!

Requirements

Must have

• Mountains: Many of the designs we have received so far show jagged mountains and snow-covered peaks. This is not what we are looking for. The Alleghany/Blue Ridge mountains are rounded, not jagged like the Rockies. They are also covered with lush green trees - there are no snow topped mountains in the summer in the Alleghanies.
• Cyclist: Some of the designs that have been submitted show mountain bikers, some with backpacks. We are looking for road cyclists, not mountain bikers.
• Include some black (wasn't one of the color choices).

Nice to have

• Design conveys intensity and challenge - it is not an easy ride.

Should not have

• Jagged or snow-top mountains.
