Logo Design Brief

Gandy Dancer is a band. it is an "80's Review" featuring top 40 hits from the 80's decade. The name is a play on words taken from the band leader Mark Gandy's last name. The term Gandy Dancer dates back to the 1800's and was a term coined to refer to railroad workers and the songs, cadences and movements they made while laying railroad tracks and working on the railroad system being built across the United States. It also has a Celtic origin as many of these workers were Irish Immigrants. The logo should consider the name and musical style. You may also opt to explore the Celtic theme in the logo. Please visit Wikipedia for a more detailed description of the history and origin. The "G" in Gandy should have clear font to not confuse it with a "C". Possible ways to incorporate the origin of the name as well as the 80's theme should be considered.

• A distinguishable G so as not to be confused or mistaken for a C. A retro 1980's rock and roll theme. Think bands and artists like Journey, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses, Rick Springfield, Billy Idol, J Geils Band, The Hooters, etc. etc.

Nice to have

• 80's rock and roll theme incorporated with Gandy Dancer origins and history.
• Possible Celtic / Irish theme and colors.

Should not have

• Anything cheesy. Should not have an 80's Pop or Alternative theme but a rock and roll top 40 theme.
