Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for an open-source software project called "Saltlick" - available at https://github.com/saltlick-crypto/. The software is for encrypting files such that only a single party can decrypt them. The ideal design will evoke the "salt" part of the name while combining it with elements that evoke either "software" or "encryption". I'd like the logo to be easily turned into an icon without the "saltlick" name necessarily present. I don't have a particular color in mind, but would generally prefer only a small number of colors (probably 3 or less?).
