Logo Design Brief

We are looking for a logo for our rental property company. Something that can be used in all aspects of marketing (business card, website, ect.) The thought is to have our logo look like a "welcome home" door mat. I uploaded an image of one I found online, however I am looking for something a little more creative.. I would love to see something stemmed from this idea. We like straight lines & nothing too fancy. We are looking for a more modern look but also don't want that to make it look generic.. Any suggestions are welcome!
