Logo Design Brief
We need a dynamic logo that represents Kahilu Theatre. Kahilu Theatre is gong through a rebranding.... becoming more community based and accessible, rather than "stuck up" as we were seen in the past. We want a logo that represents what we offer (arts, entertainment and education).... and that also represents the town of Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Visuals that come to mind for the board are plumeria flowers, mountains (we're at the foot of Mauna Kea), hills (lots of green hills in Waimea).... and also Hawaiian tattoo art could be a way of representing these things.... we have gone through two designers so far and neither one has hit the mark yet. We like the idea of playing off the "K" of Kahilu but are not stuck to it at all.... our primary three colors are on our website (www.kahilutheatre.org).... but we don't need all three to be represented equally. The final design should communicate the dynamic nature of the arts and the importance of community.
We already have the text to go with the logo. It is on our website. Kahilu Theatre is in all caps with Arts, Entertainment, Education below it.

Aloha Designers! Thank you to all of you for the designs you have submitted. An overarching comment that we keep coming back to is..... "but, what makes it uniquely Kahilu Theatre, and not just any arts organization?" Representation of the qualities of Hawaii.... especially Hawaiian art/tattoos.... has become something we are valuing above most other things.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We have looked at and discussed the various designs that have been submitted and have come to consensus that what we think we would really like to see more of is an abstract line-art style design/rendition of the Kahilu Theatre building roofline and the Mauna Kea mountain behind it. If anyone is interested in resubmitting their designs, please do. We are excited by the style of what many of you have submitted to date.

Aloha All! Thank you for your work on this logo..... As you may have seen, I sent an update with new design direction (outline of building and mountain behind).... The mountain is slightly offset behind the building - a bit to the right of center.... and I have attached images of both the building and mountain so your abstract renditions can take the images into account.... especially the slight contours and long sides of the mountain (Mauna Kea).
