Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a new residential development company called Bison Development Company. We are located in North Carolina and will be designing and building high end modern homes. We want a simple, modern or contemporary logo - nothing that looks southwestern or like a steakhouse. (I have included a quick sketch version we did in house, but this is just for reference, not to suggest a final direction) We would like to be able to have the image stand along, the type face stand alone, and the letter be stand alone as well. All of these items may be used on trucks, hats, shirts, etc..
