The Book Year Writers’ Circle is a yearly group I lead that runs from January-December and is open to writers of narrative books. We frame our books in the early spring, begin drafting in March, expand the books into finished drafts by summer’s end, revise the books throughout autumn, then close in December with industry guests focused on how to connect the book to the world. Each class is a small, supportive unit.
The logo will be used to send the students mugs or t-shirts as a participant gift. I may use it for advertising too.
Book Year Writers Circle has a "greenhouse" feel -- we grow books, discuss craft, each other's process, in a very organic way. Themes may include: books, "growing," seasons, seasons for books, writers helping writers, the idea of the circle.
I am no designer, but two ideas I like:
* I could imagine "book year" written in four seasons - a bud on half of the word "book", a leaf on the other half, an autumnal something on the first half of "year," a snowflake or bare branch on the second half of "year."
* I love the playing-with-letters way "veritas" in Harvard is written inside books (many of the participants are Harvard Writing Program alums).
Two logos/looks I really like:
* my recent book (the leaf pattern is lovely and fresh and inviting): https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/707128/edit-your-life-by-elisabeth-sharp-mcketta/
*Harvard's motto written on books (has gravitas and simplicity): https://www.harvard.edu/about/history/shields/
