Logo Design Brief

I need to create a logo for a new company based in Toronto, Canada. We are a software company, specializing in custom/bespoke software solutions for the payments industry. The logo should be something that can work well on a website, and can also be used for application icons. I like the geometric style of www.mercury.com, and also like the modern class font they use for the company name. I also like the concept of a boardwalk that stretches forward - as in a path that takes the customer forward.
