PROJECT BRIEF: “Emerald City” Event Program
Presented by The Odessa Symphony Guild
Event Date: February 7, 2025
Event Time: Use previous events

We are seeking a designer to create a stunning, upscale event program for Emerald City, presented by The Odessa Symphony Guild. The program should reflect the elevated, sophisticated theme of the event with a polished, modern layout.

Overall Direction

We will provide a past year’s program as a structural reference. Please replicate the general layout flow and page types, but all design elements, styles, fonts, color usage, and graphic structure may be completely reimagined. We want the new program to feel fresh, contemporary, and on-theme while following a similar organizational structure.

Cover & Inside Cover

The cover must include front and back design.

The inside cover should visually relate to the front cover and carry through the high-end aesthetic.

The theme is Emerald City, and the design should convey luxury, magic, and refinement—without feeling literal or cartoonish.

Content Requirements

There are 18 individuals to feature, plus group photos.

The layout must feel spacious, elegant, and not overcrowded.

Please review the previous programs (links at bottom) for an understanding of pagination and content density.

Use them solely to understand general color palette, mood, and theme direction.

Color Palette

Base the color direction on the Wizard of Oz / Emerald City theme as seen in the inspiration images.
However:

Avoid direct copying.

Stay elegant—think rich greens, jewel tones, metallic accents, and clean neutrals.

No cartoon-style imagery.

Typography

Fonts must complement a refined, elegant, modern theme.

Only use fonts that are commercially free to download and use.

Print Specifications

Size: 8 x 11 inches, full color.

Include standard bleed for print-ready files.

Printing will be done through Mixam.
Designers may contact Mixam or refer to their site for any technical print requirements.

Goals & Tone

We want a program that:

Is cohesive, polished, and visually striking

Reflects the grandeur and sophistication of The Odessa Symphony Guild’s “Emerald City”

Guides attendees smoothly throughout the event

Balances classic elegance with modern flair

Feels timeless and luxurious
