Web Design Brief
We developed a new forum-style communication platform specially targetting stock investors to share and discuss information on companies listed on the stock exchange.
You have complete freedom for designing the user-interface and web design. Designs should include all features listed below.
Please read the attached document for full specifications. Also attached is a mockup of the layout, but this is only directional. A mockup for the user-profile is also attached, but does not need to be designed.
This project focusses on the homepage and thread view.
The winner(s) will be asked to design the complete project. (create thread box, user profile, registering, settings...)
We are looking for a well thought out, smart design that incorporates the specifications in the attached document. Please do not hesitate to contact us if anything is not clear.

Dear Designers,
For us the winning design will be the one that best integrates the following 3 aspects:
1- Public/Following/Contacts: should feel like these are separate forumpages (public forum, forum for personal contacts)
2- Each selected/filtered topic: should feel like the user is on a separate forum in which only this topic is discussed.
3- Left menu: we have to admint we have difficulties with the left/right menu because users do not get a feeling of being on 'separate' pages as described in point 1 & 2. Only the user search balk is really important and should be well located. Possible solution: Saved searches, popular tags, popular contributors could be replaced and summoned by a button ? Or another solution is to use The space to the left or to the right for promotional messages or to list activities from the user's network ?

We are in the final sprint of this design challenge, we are happy with the results up till now, but are still doubting between various designs and how they would work with the rest of the website. We would therefore like non-eliminated contestants to also try to quickly style profile page with the given layout (see initial userpage_mockup). Given the time-frame, we do not expect a full fledged result, but just your vision.
