Logo Design Brief
Chateau de Jalesnes is a grand old lady of the Loire Valley. The current owners have saved her from ruin and are in the throes of renovating her once imperious lines, creating 14 self-catering holiday apartments of huge proportions on the upper floors for stays of at least a week. The former state rooms on the ground floor including a chapel, library, ballroom and salons are being recreated in the Directoire/Empire style for use by guests in addition to their private space. The dry-moated chateau is set in a wooded park of 20 acres which includes formal French gardens and a luxury swimming pool.
The chateau can be rented in it's entirety for weddings and will become a residential cooking school for several weeks of the year. The chapel and central courtyard will hold concerts and events throughout the year.
Built in the early C17th as the family seat of a Marquis the chateau has variously housed a prosperous vintner from Saumur who introduced the sparkling 'Cremants' of the Loire Valley, a convent school for daughters of the French nobility, the headquarters of the German 1st Cavalry Division during World War II and has even acted as a temporary royal residence of Dom Carlos VII of Bourbon - exiled pretender to the thrones of both France and Spain.
A truly intraoperable logo is required for use across all forms of media especially print, web and signage. A single colour reproduction will be the norm although a 2 colour execution would also be welcome. The principal logo must be capable of co-existing with a secondary descriptive tag such as 'Music Festivals' or 'Cooking Schools' .
I hope that a vintage postcard picture has been uploaded if not the Delcampe postcard site has several examples of the chateau
