Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a new company .The company name is P-5one. We are a general machine shop that makes products for the agricultural , racing, and medical industries. We are looking for a logo that would appeal to the corporate , business side of people, and the racing crowd, with a touch of modern flair.
I included a design I started that includes an airplane. We do not actually make products for planes, but I added the p51 mustang because it speaks of old school AMERICAN POWER AND INGENUITY. And with the blueprint marks on the plane, it speaks of what the company does. But it is missing something and needs some modern flair to it. Maybe the plane is to big, sidelining the corporate world. It doesn't have to be included, but would be nice if in some version. We like colors and so does the racing industry. But don't want to go to far overboard and alienate the conservative corporate world. The design would be used for buss. cards, letterheads, packaging, embroidery, decals, clothing, etc. etc.
