Design a series of 3 themed postcards that will be mailed in succession for a pilot project. Audience: to reach water operators who are responsible for managing very small public water systems (serving less than 1000 people in Pennsylvania). Purpose: Encourage small water systems to enter into a voluntary program known as "Source Water Protection for Small Systems" that is available at no out of pocket cost from PA Dept of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). Source Water Protection helps protect public health by preventing contaminants from entering the rivers, streams and groundwater on which the public depends for source of drinking water. Source water protection safeguards public health, makes efficient use of limited financial resources (prevention is cheaper than water treatment or loss of a well), and has a positive impact on the environment as a whole. Slogan is: "Safe Drinking Water Starts at the Source." A Source Water Protection program maps out where your drinking water comes from, shows ways to stop pollution before it starts, and helps plan for water emergencies.
We have a logo for the program (and more info) that can be seen at www.sourcewaterpa.org and is attached. We are considering a tag line like: "Show you care. Get a Source Water Protection Plan for your water system." Would like to see designs that use the colors blue and green, and families, a glass of water to communicate good stewardship is smart business. Many small water systems are privately owned mobile home parks.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Some designers emailed they were going to submit, but I don't believe we received their designs yet. Thank you all for your work.

Sorry for the delay in responding. 9/30 was year end for us which took priority over our new projects. We are getting back on track and have sent designs out for review and input from our small nonprofit team. Thanks for your patience, and if you have had any other inspirations that may encourage water systems to protect their raw drinking water sources out in the watershed, please send them along; we will be reviewing this week. Preventing pollution up front is much cheaper and safer than trying to treat for every contaminant at the water treatment plant. Many thanks.
