HOME PAGE

BASIC APPROACH
- Clarity and simplicity are most important to me in terms of the home page.

TEXT
- My logo. "Pachtman Theatrics" (attached) is the name of my company. I've attached the "Pachtman Theatrics" logo to this note. If the red section doesn't work with our color scheme than it's fine for you to change it to another color

I'd like the logo to be the biggest text on the page. I'd also like it to be situated above all the other text.

- Text line #2 (smaller then Pachtman Theatrics)
"Producing, Publicizing and Marketing for the Performing Arts"

If you think it would be wise to insert "in the Bay Area" in the first line, please do so.

Text line #3 (and smaller then the text on line #2)
"We bring in the audience, you bring them to their feet."

VISUALS
- Home Page Visual Approach: I'd like a carousel/slider containing 10-12 excellent posters of shows I've produced/publicized to be the visual focus of the page.

Size of the carousel: I'd like it to dominate the page. Make it large and place it in the middle of the page. I would like it to occupy at least 40% of the screen.

I'd like the slides to move continuously on their own. I'd also like them to change relatively slowly so that the images are easy to click on (once clicked, I'd like the images will include additional info about the shows).

Home page visual theory - I think the carousal will make the home page dynamic. The variety of posters offers potential clients the chance to see just how much good work my company has done. I think the images do a better job of relaying a history of our involvement in the local theater scene more eloquently then text. There will be text, just not on the home page.

I also like white space so the home page (or any page looks crowded)

I also don't like long continuos home pages. Just one page that does not exceed the size of the page. In essence, there is nothing below the fold.

- From what I've read, we've got to give search engines lots of reasons to land on my site. I like the idea of embedding key words on the homepage that are not visible to the naked eye and including these words in the code as well. I do not want to crowd the home page with lots of text. In fact, I'd like the home page to have very little text.

- One other possible visual element for the home page: A link that takes viewers to a page where they can sign up for my newsletter (I'm open to discussing this. I'm not sure what the best practices are in this regard.)

NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

Navigation system - no more then five tabs (I'd like the tabs to change color once the user has clicked on them so it's clear which tabs have been clicked on)

- New to producing/publicity (or maybe a more expansive title that would include a list of "20 questions for producers",
- Examples (need a better name then that) would include past copies of the newsletter, press releases and other materials I've created for shows
- Contact info

Maybe a tab would say "communications" which would include: my blog, newsletter samples and possibly additional marketing materials I've made.

I need to be able to change the text frequently which is why I was interested in working with wordpress.


If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. If I inadvertently choose a navigation system that is very complex or expensive please let me know. The same thing goes for the carousal.

I also want to say that if you have another visual idea for a site used by a producer and publicists I'm open to the idea. Unless you have a very innovative way of including a theatre curtain or a spotlight on the website I do not want to use that imagery. I would consider something that is truly innovative.
