Logo for a new product line for a manufacturing company that is 3D printing parts

This is what "MLX" or "MLX by Nicholson (in subtext" was looking for in their logo design

We are a company (Nicholson) that manufactures equipment that removes the bark from trees prior to being processed in the lumber mill. We have recently invested in 3D printing metal components and want to market our range of these products - the product range being "MLX' - it has been suggested that the logo might actually be some form of 3D print build up itself - with the M being more complete than the L and then more than the L - but the ideas can be all yours....
