The Blue Mountains Renewable Energy Co-op is a new community group formed in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia. We are aiming to build a community-owned renewable energy project in the region, similar to projects elsewhere such as Hepburn Wind in Victoria (hepburnwind.com.au). See also www.embark.com.au for background on community-owned renewable energy. We have not yet decided on a technology (eg. wind, solar or waste-to-energy). The Blue Mountains is a World Heritage Area famous for it's sandstone rock formations and escarpments, particularly the Three Sisters at Echo Pt, Katoomba. There is quite a progressive community here, including a vibrant community sector.
